Easy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
|
Ingredients:
2 slices of white or whole wheat bread
2 slices of American, cheddar or your favorite cheese
1 tablespoon of softened butter
|
Heat a non-stick skillet to medium-low
heat.
Spread the softened butter on one side of both of the slices of bread. Place
the slices butter side down in the skillet.
Place on piece of cheese on top of each slice of bread. American or cheddar is the
standard cheese for this, but you can use your favorite. Mix and match if you like. Add more cheese if you like.
It's your sandwich ;-)
After the cheese has started to melt on both slices of bread,
turn one slice over on top of the other. Continue to cook until a light golden brown. Careful, these will get too
brown quickly and then they don't taste very good.
After the grilled cheese sandwich has browned remove it
from the skillet and serve it with potato chips or your favorite chips and a slice or two of
pickle.
Variation: If you want to try something a little different you can
add a slice or two of tomato to the slices of bread while the cheese is melting. Not exactly the way mom made them,
but good and a favorite of many vegetarians.
